Though they differ in meaning, they sound the same! Unfortunately, there&#8217;s no simple rule that will cover all such compound words, nor is there an either-is-correct safety net.  Meaning is key to appropriate use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s look at <em>everyday<\/em> vs <em>every day<\/em>. Many of these websites represent professional teams, services, and popular media.  A simple grammar mistake (or two in the case of the Olympics wall art) undermines their branding efforts and credibility. To be fair, even my spell-check is getting this wrong!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-white-background-color has-background wp-block-list\"><li>I waited (for) awhile for the bus to arrive.<\/li><li>We walked (for) awhile in the rain.<\/li><li>It&#8217;s been a while since I&#8217;ve seen him.<\/li><li>After a while, I began to feel more relaxed.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>anytime vs any time<\/strong> &#8211; <em>Anytime<\/em> is an adverb that means \u201cwhenever\u201d or \u201cat any time.\u201d  Remember, you can&#8217;t use <em>anytime<\/em> with a preposition like &#8220;at.&#8221;  You need the two-word <em>any time<\/em> when you\u2019re talking about an <em>amount<\/em> of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-white-background-color has-background wp-block-list\"><li>You can call anytime!<\/li><li>I can drive anyplace and anytime!<\/li><li>I can drive to any place at any time!<\/li><li>Do you have any time on your schedule for lunch?<\/li><li>There isn&#8217;t any time to spare!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>anyone vs any one<\/strong> &#8211; <em>Anyone<\/em> refers to any person at all, but not to any particular individual.
